Update on pictures and measurements!

So today I decided that it was time to get an update on my stats:

Weight: 118.6lbs
Neck: 11.6"
Waist: 24"
Chest: 30.8"
Hips/Butt: 36.3"
Thigh: 22"
Calf: 14"
Bicep: 9.3"
Forearm: 8.3"

So far the biggest improvement is in my waist size, which was not my primary concern. I really wanted to see a change in my hips/butt/thigh areas. I feel like my top half is always the side that gets improvement no matter what I do, and this is rough.

On the other hand, I've started juicing to make sure I fill myself with proper nutrients and have begun cooking dinner and making lunch at home. So far this has helped me be healthier and save money, which is a good combo if you ask me!

My boyfriend also gave me a Fitbit which you wear all day/night on your clothing to help track steps, floors, activity level, miles, and sleep patterns. Online you can upload your stats and it keeps a detailed log of all the activity you do, how much you eat, how many calories you burn, etc. I think this is a great addition to what I'm already doing. He also got me a loose pair of Lulu pants (which I had been talking about for weeks!) and two headbands to help with my ear problem when running outdoors. What an amazing boyfriend, huh?? Couldn't be a happier girl :)

Here are some Day 1 pictures compared to today.

Juicing

So my boyfriend and I went in together on a really nice, top of the line Breville juicer. Last night was the first night we used it and it was AWESOME. Last night we put broccoli, kale, lemon, kiwi, starfruit, ginger, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, bell peppers, apples, and carrots in it and it was the best juice I've ever had! Tonight I made some for myself and I put kale, tomatoes, mandarin oranges, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, ginger, lemon, apples, celery, and coconut water. Last night's juice was much heartier, sweeter, and tastier than tonight's juice but they were both great and I look forward to being healthier!

Day 11: Outside mile run and bike ride

Before a random weekend getaway to Napa with my boyfriend, I decided it would be a good idea to go for a morning run up some hills in San Francisco. I hiked up some steep hills to the top for about 1.5 miles round-trip and in return, was able to take some amazing pictures :)

After getting to Napa and finding out our room wouldn't be ready for a few hours, we decided to bike 2.5 miles to a winery for some wine tasting. The hotel failed to mention that one of those miles was completely UPhill... needless to say we almost died. All in all I feel like I did my due diligence with my weekend workouts and am happy with myself :)

Day 9 & 10: Gym Workouts

So on 2/13 and 2/16 I worked out at my boyfriend's gym. I ran a mile the first day and did some core strengthening exercises. I ran 1.6 miles the second day and did weight training on my arms, squats, and leg lifts for my back thighs and butt. I've eaten healthy all week and am pretty proud of myself because it's been a rather emotional week. Proud and guilt free :)

Great quote I found on Pinterest this week:
"The pain of discipline is far less than the pain of regret."

Emo Eaterrrrr

UGHHH. I've done nothing but eat wonderfully healthy meals this weekend until last night. I bought a bag of hot Cheetos and cream cheese and have been eating them non-stop ever since. I also bought Twix and Airhead Sour Strip things. Why?? I was doing so well... I just can't stop. When I get upset I just turn to food and will make any excuse to make it right, "it's just tonight," "this is the last time," "it won't make that much of a difference," "no one will know," "I'll just work it off tomorrow," "I never do it, so that makes it ok," "this isn't that bad for me," "I worked hard this week, I deserve this," "well I already ate some, might as well finish it." Maybe I should start using MyFitnessPal again to track what I eat...

On the other hand-I bought a Breville juicer, Camelbak hydration pack, and new filtration water bottle today on Amazon and should receive them within the week. I'm hoping this new stuff will help me do better and encourage me more. We'll see... :-/

Day 8: Core Cardio and Balance

I started off today by eating a yogurt and banana, then followed up with a latte (for an early afternoon boost) and brie and apple sandwich. I did a 43 minute Core Cardio and Balance video from Insanity which I think was for muscle recovery more than anything. It was slower but still effective; I still had sweat dripping and a beet red face and managed to drink my entire bottle of water.

On another note: I'm thinking of quitting my gym. I can't even remember the last time I went and I feel like my workouts are more effective at home or at my boyfriend's gym (free). It would save me $35/month and I can push myself to go running outside more. We'll see. Originally I thought that by paying for the gym it'd be like punishment for not going. I'll have to weigh my options.

Thinking about doing photos and measurements tomorrow, but we'll have to see how I feel when I wake up :)

Day 7: Solo Workout

After "treating" myself to a cheeseburger on Monday and a McDonalds breakfast burrito AND a Costco hotdog on Tuesday, I decided it was time to kick my own ass. I went to workout with my boyfriend at his company gym after work. I ran over a mile and then tried to keep my heart rate up by doing jumping squats, oblique planks, regular planks, and weightlifting. My face was beet red and I was sweating the entire time, so I think I did a good job with my 50 or so minutes there. My boyfriend even said, "Wow babe, you worked hard. I'll give you a gold star today." Just that small comment made my day :)

Day 6: Pure Cardio AND Cardio Abs

So I finally got off my ass. I turned one 37 minute workout into a two-video 1 hour workout by doing Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs! Only bad thing about today is that I only had time to eat a bowl of Cocoa Crispies in the morning and a handful of chips midday during a work meeting. When I came home I grabbed an apple and a handful of Goldfish just to hold me over until after my workout. All I have in my fridge is kale and some frozen orange chicken from Trader Joe's so maybe I'll just go for it considering my calorie intake today was minimal to nonexistent. This felt good but it's only going to work if it becomes a habit/routine. BTW- I also bought myself a weekly/monthly planner today, so I'll try to schedule in some workouts throughout the week to keep me on track!

JUST DO IT DAMNIT

So I woke up before 5am this morning with the intention of going for a run before work...fail. I somehow convinced myself that I needed sleep more than a workout...wrong. I was perfectly awake and well rested. I then decided to bring my gym clothes to work with me so I could go right after (avoiding home and my couch), and I was running late, so I forgot my clothes. Then I decided that I would just make myself go after work but I ended up getting on the phone with my mom for an hour and a half and thus deciding it was too late to workout...FAIL. Along with my sorrows, I broke my healthy eating day with two caramel filled milk chocolate Ghirardelli squares :-/ Again, I am an emotional eater... My plan now is simply just to be active. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Step two is getting off your ass. Step three is making it a routine. Ugh...

Time to get back on track

After a good conversation with a rational person who knows me better than anyone (my boyfriend of almost 3 years and best friend of 7 years), I realized that I know exactly how to eat and what to do at the gym, but I simply don't do it. I get going on a good streak and then conk out and either stop working out for too long or eat something crappy. Throughout my life I've always had a dance instructor to yell at me and keep me going. Now, all I have is me. Unless I feel like spending over $100 on a personal trainer, I have to start kicking my own ass ( | ) haha
